Gem Certification

Every gemstone offered by Ceyonts Gems and Jewelry is certified by internationally recognized gemological laboratories, ensuring complete authenticity, origin verification, and buyer confidence.

Why Gem Certification Matters

In the gem industry, a certificate from a reputable gemological laboratory is the gold standard of authenticity. It provides an independent, expert evaluation confirming that a gemstone is what it claims to be — including its origin, species, treatment status, and quality characteristics.

For Sri Lankan gems specifically, a certificate confirming "Ceylon" origin significantly enhances the value and desirability of the stone. Ceylon sapphires, for example, command a premium over sapphires from other origins due to their unique color quality and historical prestige.

At Ceyonts Gems and Jewelry, we insist on certified gems because we believe every buyer deserves the security of independent verification — not just our word.

Important Notes for Buyers

Unheated vs. Heat-Treated

Unheated gemstones command a significant premium because they represent the stone in its natural state. Heat treatment is a widely accepted practice that enhances color and clarity, but unheated Ceylon sapphires are particularly prized by collectors and investors.

Ceylon Origin Premium

A certificate confirming Sri Lanka (Ceylon) origin typically adds 15–30% or more to a sapphire's market value. The "Ceylon" designation is globally recognized as a hallmark of superior quality.

Certificate Verification

All certificates from major labs can be verified online using the certificate number. We encourage buyers to independently verify any certificate through the issuing laboratory's official website.

Our Certificate Policy

At Ceyonts, we display the actual certificate number from the issuing lab. Certificate photos are provided upon serious buyer inquiry. We never fabricate or alter certificates — ever.

Certification FAQ

Can I see the actual certificate before purchasing?
Yes. Upon a serious buyer inquiry, we will provide the full certificate image, certificate number, and all relevant documentation. We encourage buyers to verify certificates independently through the issuing laboratory's website.
Why don't you show the certificate number publicly on the website?
For security purposes, we display placeholder text on public listings as certificates are shared with verified buyers upon serious inquiry. This prevents misuse of certificate numbers by third parties. All actual certificate numbers are available immediately upon request.
Are all your gems certified?
We aim to offer certified gems across our collection. All featured listings on our website carry or can be certified by recognized laboratories. Some gems are available with NGJA (National Gem & Jewellery Authority of Sri Lanka) certificates confirming Ceylon origin, and others with GIA, GRS, or IGI certification. Contact us to confirm the specific certification available for any gem you're interested in.
What does "unheated" mean and why does it matter?
An unheated gemstone has not been subjected to heat treatment, meaning its color is entirely natural. For sapphires and rubies especially, unheated status significantly increases value — sometimes by 2–5x compared to heat-treated equivalents. A "No Heat" notation on a GIA or GRS certificate is one of the most sought-after designations in the colored gem market.
Do you provide NGJA certificates confirming Sri Lankan origin?
Yes. The National Gem & Jewellery Authority (NGJA) is Sri Lanka's official government gem lab and their certificates are the definitive proof of Sri Lankan (Ceylon) origin. We can provide NGJA certificates for gems in our collection. Contact us to confirm availability for specific items.
